Well I am three days into the summer semester and about to rip all my hair out. There is no way that I will ever do these six week crunch courses again. It is absolutely insane the amount of work, plus the two hours of sitting in each class. I have no idea how people do it. On top of school I am supposed to be working 20 hours a week, which is just killing the amount of time I have to do homework. Basically I get home and do homework until my eyes start bleeding and I am falling asleep on my books then go to bed. In the middle I get to get my daughter and make dinner, since I appear to be the only one capable of doing so. I spent at least three hours on my functions homework yesterday and I am dreading what life will be like when we are learning something new rather than just reviewing. My anthropology class is pretty neat, the instructor seems a little scattered, but what he has to say is all pretty interesting. It is a lot of reading to pile on top of my functions homework however. At least two chapters a night. My functions for calculus class seems like it could be a lot of fun. The problem I am having with the class is that the instructor has a very strong accent, so I have trouble understanding him. Also when he doesn't know exactly how to explain something he just moves on, so I kind of wonder what important things I am missing because I don't speak Russian. One of my classmates pointed out that he is definitely a mathematician, but not really a teacher. I think I agree with that statement. Work is going pretty well, soon I am supposed to get a computer at my desk, which means that I will be able to accomplish a lot more. Tomorrow I have to go to a four hour training session on how to use the database program that they have, which unfortunately means that I am going to miss my functions class. I did manage to get the assignments though, which is good. I also learned that I have an anthropology paper to write this weekend, but I don't know what it is supposed to be about. As I said, no more six week crunch sessions for me. Or at least if I do it again I am only going to do one at a time, this is just way too much stuff and I barely have enough time to work things out anyway. Hopefully everyone is doing great, and good luck in all your summer plans.
