We went to the doctor yesterday for Brayden's two-month checkup, and I always knew his head was flat but I thought all babies heads are flat.  Well, apparently his is only flat on one side because he always wants to look to the right.

So the Doctor says if I can't get him to start turning the other way, he might have to wear a HELMET!  I was HORRIFIED!!!  He gave me this handout with this illustration of this extremely obese kid (we're talking Jerry Springer obese) and his mom is bending his head half-way around like freakin exorcist or something and I am supposed to do this to my child to stretch out his neck muscles.

I just knew his daddy was going to lose it when I told him about the helmet, but he just said that we can slap a Clemson tiger paw on the side and it will be all good.  :)

Look, my pediatrician said the same thing to us about our son, but I really did not think that his head was all that flat.  You have to consider the fact that he is still growing and developing and that he will also have hair that will cover his head should he have a flat spot somewhere.  My husband and I declined to have a free consultation and our physician said that she did not feel strongly about the helmets, but that she is required to keep us informed.  The decision is totally up to you, but I personally would not worry about it.  He will loosen up soon enough. Making sure he has plenty of tummy time will help out as well.  LOL.

My son used to always lay his head to one side too.  I started using one of those sleep positioners and I propped him up so that the opposite side was on the bed.  He always managed to wiggle off of it by morning but it worked.  Everything evened out and is just fine now.

My son loves the stretches, when the muscle is SO tight it feels really good to have it stretched! He also wears a helmet! People give it such a bad name! It really frustrates me! These kids should be allowed to have nice round heads without getting picked on or stare at for wearing their helmet!!!!!

kadin loves to turn her head back and forth and kadin was born with a lot of hair, well, in the one spot in tthe back she is completely bald, it so funny because she has jet black hair and then their is this spot their is hair above and below it but none in the middle. and loved her hair when she was born it looked like she had a wig on  it now getting curly, then it stright and thick, I nver knew anything about helmet?  but I do know about going bald. I try to cover it, but it sticks out.
