Heart Broken

I get a call around 3:00 this morning from my aunt.  She came home from the club to find her 11 year old daughter with a 14 year old boy in the room.  Her daughter and I are close, so she wanted me to come over and talk with her because she was to angry and afraid of what she might do to her.  When I get there they are both crying.  I start crying, it was just a room filled with tears.

I didn't know what to say to my cousin, Nia.  She is 11 but has a body like a 16 year old.  Plus has had her period for 2 years.  Her and her mom don't get along to well.  We come from a fucked up family and we all have problems with expressing our feeling.  Nia needs more attention from her mom and can't remember the last time her mom told her she loved her.  Her mother has never even taken her to the zoo, a park by themselves, amusement parks, nothing.  I normally do things with her.  You get the idea on how hungry she is for affection.  I know no matter how much time I spend with her, she wants her mommy to things with her.

I told Nia how disappointed I was with her.  She let me know this wasn't the first time the little boy has been in her house.  I asked her have they ever touched.  She said no, but that he tried to kiss her today and got mad when she said no.  I explained to her what a dangerous situation that was, but I was proud of her for saying no. 

I feel that I should have a talk with my aunt.  She seems to think that Nia is acting out because of her daddy not being around.  I am sure that has a bit to do with it, but it is not all.   I am nervous because I hate telling people how to raise their children, but after this something needs to be said.  Nia starts middles school this fall and if she continues with this behavior I am afraid she will be come another statistic.

Hey, I know you hate telling people how to raise their kids, but it seems very obvious she needs your help in this situation, like you said shes starting middle school she really needs guidance before shes another statistic. I hope everything works out!
