I found out today that the school that I teach at is going to be consolidating with 2 other schools. Our building will be closing. It's very sad, because there is a lot of ethnic history at our school. Not only will they be closing the school, but they are probably going to close an exteremly beautiful church. This church was designed after european ones. There are paintings on the ceiling. The inside is the shape of a cross. I think about the money and hard work that people put into building this church. It is a historical church as well. I don't understand how they can do this. I will have to look for a new job next year. That doesn't bother me as much as what is happening to the parish. I feel so sad for all of those people. It seems as though they (the powers in charge) are putting money before God.
I hope I'm not rambling too much.

Thank you for your kind words. The church will not close until the priest retires or passes away. That is because of the shortage of priests. I think that they could keep the church open and have a rotating priest like they do in the rural communities. These people love their church. Their parish is the only one that is in the black. The same is with the school. This is because of the the support from the parishioners. They strongly support the parish and the school. I am not sure if they will contribute to another parish.
I pray for the children. At this time I need to make sure that they will have a smooth transition to the new school as well as making sure they learn what they need to know. It's going to be a challange but I'm confident that with God's help we will be able to do it. We are going to need your prayers.

No, your not rambling to much. You're right. It is sad. It's really sad that it appears that money is being put before God, but it happens everyday.
Why can't they still use the building as a church? That's what I'm confussed about. My sons went to a church school, and it too was closed down due to lack of funds, but the church didn't stop existing. I know what you mean about how it effects the parish. It also effect the parents, and it will effect the children as well, especially the little ones that doesn't understand the concept of having to have money to keep things going. I hope your situation gets better.
