Hair Cut Crazy!!!!!!!

any advice out there on how to get my four year old son to not totally freak out when we take him to get his hair cut???? about at age two... the lady cut his ear with the clippers and ever since then it has been pure torture to try and get it cut! i even had my mother-in-law take him in today.... same thing of being petrified of the clipper set so they had to use scissors and it doesn't look very clean cut from that... and help?

Jan. 25, 2007 at 6:57 PM If its clippers let him play with them for a couple minutes.  Hold the end of them (not the cutting end) on his tummy so he can feel the vibrations which should kind of tickle.  Take to the barber when he won't be getting a hair cut so he can see other men getting their hair cut.

Jan. 25, 2007 at 7:04 PM we have tried having me get mine cut just next to him and also he's held the clippers to feel it and he flips out! he even freaks out when my husband has the clippers to his head... i afraid that he's been seriously traumatized!!!

I have no idea, I had no trouble with my oldest son but my little guy who is 2 screams bloody murder. My husband or I have to hold still while the lady cuts super fast:) The funny thing is nothing ever happened to my son and he still hates it!

Jan. 25, 2007 at 10:23 PM Has he been able to hold the clippers while they're not on.  You might need to take baby steps to desencitize him to them.  Start with him in the same room with the clippers, gradually move them closer to him.  Or have you thought about a toy barber shop?

not to bash on the idea of a kiddy hair cutting salon............... they're actually the ones who had cut his ear.................. and they looked at me when he was screaming from it and bleeding like "please shut your kid up, it's just a little cut".........................   so yeah---they seriously pissed me off because it was a good 1/2 inch gash!!!! they're called FUN TIMES CUTS where i am from (just a heads up)......................
