Last month I participated in a listening competition at American Idol Underground...Yeah, I'm a hopeless AI fan. Anyway, those who listened to the most hours of music would win a Samsung BlackJack smart phone.

Today, I received an email from AI Underground stating:

Congratulations! You’re a winner in American Idol Underground's Samsung Listener Competition! With our top users listening to and rating over 27,000 minutes of music in the month of June, the competition was fierce, but we’re happy to announce that you were one of the five listeners who logged the most minutes listening to music via the AIU player last month. As a result, you have won a brand new Samsung BlackJack smart phone!

Before we can deliver your prize, we require that you respond to this email with your name, phone number, and shipping address within the next 14 days. Should we not receive your information within the next 14 days, your prize will be forfeited and awarded to the next runner-up in the competition, so please reply to this email ASAP.

My first response was "Yeah Right". I sent the original message to spam. Then I started to think about it, and I really did participate in the competition. Kept my laptop tuned in nearly  24/7.

I'm leery with sending personal information like that. I can't find any reference on AI underground's site to last month's competition. When I registered for the site, I gave them all the information they're asking for...Why would they be asking for it again?

I guess I'm just one of those people that believe if it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Here's the email response I got when I emailed the VP and president..

Hi Angi,My name is Steve Parks, and I am the Vice President of American Idol Underground. The email you received is indeed legitimate. You won a Samsung BlackJack for listening to 1,183 minutes of music on the American Idol Underground radio player in the month of June, logged in as (Me). Feel free to call me at the number below during normal business hours if you have any further questions.Best regards,-Steve

WOO HOO......I really won something! I've never won a contest before. Sweet! My daughter broke my cell last week and I didn't want to spend the money to replace it right now so I took over hub's phone.
