Hi honey,
Well, let me tell you of our lovely day at the vet. To start with we, me, Ryan, Chris, Kelsey, (THE KIDS) Kaiba (THE CAT) and stupid Hannah (THE DOG)get to the Humane Society Animal Clinic early by a few minutes. Being on time for this bunch is a feat in itself. The dog goes ballistic because she sees other dogs in the parking lot, so she tries to get out of my window and ends up scratching the %@*#^! out of my leg. I get out of the car as fast as I can to avoid any more injury to myself when I am greeted by Ryan, (THE ELDEST) grabbing the leash from me to muscle the dog into walking next to him. She has on the pincher collar. I muscle it away from Ryan because he is choking her with it and it is digging into her neck. I finally get her away from him, loosen the choke hold and get her to mind me. While Ryan and I are busy grappling with the dog, Chris and Kelsey (THE TWINS) are arguing with all four hands on the kitty carrier about who is going to take Kaiba through the doors. The poor cat is in a carrier and he's getting tossed back and forth, to and fro, and up and down due to the weight and awkwardness of the box, and due to the way the kids were handling it. We finally get into the office and sit down with the cat in the carrier, the dog on the pinch collar, and all the kids minding. (AMAZING) Now other people walk in with their pets, and Hannah wants to run up to their dog and put on a good show of aggression with a happy wagging tail. Everyone stares and clutches onto their beloved dogs and cats in fear of Hannah getting loose. The dog finally lays down and relaxes after 20 minutes. Forty minutes later we are called into a room. We all go in and wait for the vet to come. The cat is out of the carrier and on the table, constantly trying to get off. The dog lays down like a good girl. The vet enters the room and Ryan decides to call his friend Zena on the phone. The entire time the vet is in the room and trying to talk to me, and me trying to talk to her, Ryan is talking to Zena! It felt like a bad radio station was blaring in the background and there was no way of turning it off. Even after the several attempts of me telling him to be quiet and advising him to call her back when we get out of the room he didn't hang up. I finally had to snap at him, THEN he turned it off! The rudest child in the world! I will have a long talk with him about this one. Finally after the shots and exams of both pets are over, it is time to get poor Hannah's ANAL glands expressed. Oh yes, Ryan hears this and he demands to view the expression of the ANAL glands. I am trying to get it through his head that it stinks and it isn't really fun or interesting to watch. Although it was difficult to change his mind, he finally gave up and went with me to the waiting room. We waited until the dog came out with her stinking butt. I told the kids to take the cat and dog out to the car and wait for me while I payed the bill. I specifically asked Ryan to keep Hannah outside on the leash for a while to air out her butt. It is now 3:30 and I pay my bill of 114.00. Yikes! I go out to the car and Kelsey is walking around the parking lot with the cat in the kitty carrier, waving him around, to and fro, this way and that way, up and down, and the dog is in the car by herself. I ask why the dog isn't outside and Ryan tells me he wants to stink up the car. Well stink it up she did. I get in the car and notice the car is running. I asked who turned the car on, and the kids informed me it had been running the whole time we were in the vets office! Oh lovely. Then while we are driving home with the windows open and breathing through our mouths so we don't have to smell that freshly expressed dog butt, Kelsey has the kitty carrier on her lap pushing it around and turning it up and down, to and fro until alas, we reach the driveway. Kelsey and the boys get out and go into the house with the dog and the cat still in the kitty carrier. Of course Kelsey is carrying it and it is bouncing to and fro, this way and that, up and down and all around until she gets into the door of the house. Kelsey lets the poor cat out to find he had pooped in the cage and was now covered in poop. I chase him down with wet paper towel in hand and muscle him to his side and wipe him off as good as I can. I make him to go to the basement while I bleach and clean out the kitty carrier. I just love family outings. I hope you're having as much fun as I am!
Love, Carol
