My name is Laurie.  When I reached by 50th birthday, I couldn't believe it.  My family was horrified when I was asked in an interview (for something totally else) for the local paper my age, I told them.  And it was printed, so I can't ever deny it.

I have been married for 30 years, have four beautiful children, one boy and three girls.   I love my job.  I am a reading tutor to kindergartners at a public elementary school.  So, I have the summers off to catch up on projects.  I'm one of those people who start things and many times do not finish them.  I love to swim and read and make crafts.   I am an assistant Brownie leader, even though my youngest is 19.  I  am taking a hiatus from my church choir and cantoring.  I really can't figure out why.  Maybe burn-out from the pressure???  I live in the upper mid-west of this great land.   I grew up in southern Ohio, married in Indiana and became ME in Illinois.  I love the outdoors - flourish in  my garden of herbs and flowers.  I love to try to cook ANYTHING!   Usually my husband is the only one to try something really different.  but the kids all love the homemade pasta.  I am a person of many talents, but not a master of any.  ( Well, maybe my job, since I love it so much!).

Jul. 20, 2007 at 4:50 PM :::gasp:::  How could you?!!   Good for you!!  Those years are who made you who you are.  I'm sure you feel like me - some days they feel like they flew by, and some days you feel every single minute of them!!  LOL  But denying any one of them, to me, would be like denying a part of myself.  I could never lie about my age.    Like the above person said, I too love the fact that you are so proud of who you are!
