Wow, I feel terrible about this morning. Cheyenne has move into her two year old Sunday School class, so she is no longer in nursery, even for services. She was doing good for the first half of the service. Then when one of the young ladies was sharing her testimony, Cheyenne started getting restless. She did not want to stay still, she would cry real loud when we got on to her. Which became often. Her Daddy and I were both getting tense and upset with her. We missed what we felt was important during the testimony and a prayer request. It was very frustrating.

I know that this is normal for children her age. I even thought about bringing a snack next time as we drove home, but they give them snacks at the end of the Sunday School class. We even have church early, ending at 11:30AM. I hate to see if it did end later, because I know part of it was that she was hungry. I also understand the reason for why they want the children in the services. I just don't think she is ready to sit through service, and certainly not ready to participate.

Not that this happens all the time. She does have her good days. I just felt bad cause we were getting so bent out of shape right in the middle of church.  God please give me more a more gentle, compassionate heart at moments like these. Thank You.

Jul. 22, 2007 at 2:24 PM I understand every church is different but our church allows the kids to stay in nursery until they start K.  Then we have clip boards with coloring papers and colors for the kids that are to old for nursery that seems to help with mine.  Your baby is to young to really understand that she needs to be quiet during the service so I'd bring her favorite toy, or coloring stuff to help pass the time.  Good Luck!

Jul. 22, 2007 at 9:01 PM telirysivi, thank you I did have a few things to take with us for evening services. The children were also given a little bag with the logo for an event they are doing in Sunday School hour for the K -12 kids. The bag will be perfect for an overnight bag, but for now it will be great to carry coloring stuff and a couple toys. The coloring stuff I like best are the no mess Color Wonder stuff. That is the best product ever! It does not go on them, their clothes, the walls, or furniture, just on the paper they comes goes with it. I had thought about it, but I don't know why I never did it. So basically I was to blame not her.

Jul. 22, 2007 at 11:46 PM I agree churches are so different. Our church has nursery until they are 4. Then they have Children's church. During church service all the kids go to one of the class rooms and have a litle lesson that is more on their level. I think it's a good thing. That way they can still be learning the word of God but they won't be bored having to just sit and listen to the preacher! lol On Easter Sunday we left Christian in the Sanctuary with us and he had to go potty. Well Kevin took him potty and when he was walking back in he said really loud... I Peed like a Big Boy!! hahahahaha We all about died laughing..... You just never know how kids are going to act. We would always take Christian snacks and paper and toys. Another thing Christian really likes is Silly Putty. He will sit and play with that stuff for hours!!!! He was around Cheyenne's ( did I spell her name wrong?? lol) when he started playing with it. But he was never the type to put stuff in his mouth.... so I'm not sure how she is! Anyways, I'll keep you all in prayer!! :)

Emily,

You spelled her name right. Yea, I remember a church that I went to that did things just like that.  They have there reason's for how they do things here, it is the only thing that I think I disagree with.  I read a book called Parenting in the Pew and even the writer said they were not ready until age four.  I think she would eat the silly putty. She has just stopped putty crayons in her mouth. I had to ask her Sunday School teacher cause they color every day.
