I was named after my Great-Grandma. Her name was Laura B. Newton Foster and my parents named me Laura Joy Foster Roberts. I've got questioned many times about why I have 2 last names and when I tell them it's 2 MIDDLE names, the people just get more confused. I used to HATE my middle name, Joy, because I couldn't understand WHAT my parents were thinking giving me a name like that! BUT for my last b-day card my dad explained the "Joy" they both had when I was born so they gave me that name. Hmm... I love it now and couldn't ask or think about having my name any other. :)

Jul. 25, 2007 at 5:56 AM My real name is Diana and I don't like it at all .. I really prefer to be called D as in the letter D but to make it easier I just say Dee when spelling it out.  BUT yeah I rather be called Dee than Diana because well I really think Diana makes me sound old .. I don't know why I feel this I just do.

Jul. 25, 2007 at 11:14 PM My dads sister had her first two daughters, their dad named the first Joy, and the second Gay!  Gay as in being happy!  She was teased her entire life, and has managed to change her name to Gayle after years of torment.  Joy has never had any of the teasing and cajoling, but both exemplify anything but being a joy or gay.  Also reminds me of Johnny Cash's song "A boy named Sue".

Jul. 26, 2007 at 1:23 AM When I married, I kept my maiden name and added my husband's (without a hyphen!).  It has been confusing at times for others, but I couldn't just give it up after all my life.  It was a part of ME for too long.  When I had my daughter, I gave her my maiden name as ONE of her middle names, as well.  I'm sure that it will wreak havoc for her also, but again......she is a part of me......as well as her dad.
