This may sound silly, but many do not know how to care for a bar of soap! You must use a dish with slots or holes to allow for water to drain off the bar. If the bar of soap sits in a dish that does not allow for drainage, you soap will become goopey and slimey, and shorten the life of your bar of soap....if it sets in water or on a solid surface...this includes the side of your tub/shower....it will start to dwindle away!! It doesn't matter what material your dish is made out of...glass, ceramic, porcelin, or wood.....as long as it allows for propper drainage. Many wooden soap dishes are called soap decks, and these are my personal favorite! They can all range in price as well....that's all going to depend on your personal taste....but just remember....if you paid 40.00 for an out-of-this-world soap dish....if it doesn't drain....it's worthless!
