I would like to tell you a little about my family and myself. My name is Holly, my husband, Charles, and I are raising five children together. Charles had three children, and I had one when we met. Together we have one, and she is the tie that binds our family together. When we were married we made a commitment to bettering our lives for our children, for ourselves and for one another.

We were living in Highland, California and although we were both born and raised in California, we were really unhappy with our quality of life there. We wanted to breath better air, be surrounded by better people, have our kids in better schools. We wanted to get out, but we didn’t know where we wanted to go. We didn’t have the time and money to travel, and we were afraid to sell our home without having a place to go. We started thinking about Oregon and from that point on, everything pointed us North.

After the sale of our home we went on vacation. We packed up the car and pop-up tent with everything we thought we would need for a month and hit the road. We went through Arizona, New Mexico and Texas and back through California visiting friends and family. Our one-month trip turned into two and we didn’t cross the border into Oregon until December 11.

Once we got into Oregon, we realized, we didn’t really know where in Oregon we wanted to be. We looked around Ashland and Rogue River. It was beautiful but we wanted to see more of the state before we really started looking to settle down. We stayed a couple of nights in Eugene, but we were spending too much on hotel rooms so we decided to find a campground. We set up camp in Sweet Home and started looking for a place to rent or buy.  We called on a Mobile home in a park in Corvallis and the realtor encouraged us to go check out the town. We drove to Corvallis. The park was nice the mobile was old and needed some work, but we really like the town. We decided that this would be our new home and every experience we have here reaffirms that decision.  It is beautiful here. The schools are great. The skies are beautiful. Were right near the Willamette River.  The people are nicer. We recently ran across an article in Country Home Magazine that names Corvallis as #3 in the United States for green living. I thought it couldn’t get any better.

We were amazed when we went to Crescent Valley High (the school our two oldest daughters will be starting later this year) for the orientation, and saw what kind of classes they offered. They have amazing art and photography classes, they offer a robotics class (and the robots battle at competitions) and the sports programs are amazing as well. It made us wish we could go back to High School.

Charles got a position as store assistant manager with Goodwill Industries. He so happy to work for a company that makes a difference in peoples lives. I am re-devoting myself to working our Shaklee Business, because I am committed to making a difference in peoples lives as well, and with Shaklee I can help people have better health, greater financial stability, more family time, and help the Environment.

No more holding our breath to see how much worse things can get, things just keep getting better and better.

Aug. 29, 2007 at 11:30 PM What a great story!!  Oh, I love Oregon.  I think we live in one of the most beautiful states there are.  Have you checked out our coasts??  I really envy your two-month trip.  That sounds right up my alley, but my husband is so opposite me and would never, ever go for that.
