We have been talking to Elijah about having to give up his nuks soon, we have been telling him that he can trade all of them for a toy from Walmart, he can come shopping with us and pick it out all by himself.

Up until now he has said, "no thank you mom" well today he has been carrying around a small soft pillow and calling it his baby (for some reason we don't have a single baby doll in this house full of boys!) and I told him that if he wanted to trade his nuks for a baby doll he could do that and we would get him a special one all of his own.

He told me at first that he would trade 1 nuk, I told him it had to be all of them, about 10 minutes later he came up to me and said that he could trade all of them "maybe"!!

Yeah, we are going down to my sisters this weekend, so we are not taking them away before that, but maybe it will be coming up very soon!!!

Oh the stress of that week, but it would be nice not having to search the house for nuks before bed every night!!!

Aug. 9, 2007 at 10:28 PM Oh man, Logan's two and he gets it for naps and bed and I dread getting him off of it! lol Maybe I'll try when he can start talking a whole lot better than he does now. Maybe he'll understand better? That's cute how he wants a baby doll, maybe he is thinking about the new baby coming!

lol....love this idea! wish I had of thought of it when i took Graham's chupa away. (chupa is spanish for pacifier and Jason liked chupa better than pacie or nuk!) :) Graham didn't put up much of a fight when it was time to take it away though...he cried it out for a few days, but not much. I HEAR YA on the stress you get trying to find one when you need it!! they ALWAYS fell behind our crib and in the middle of the night i'd have to dig!! :) good luck on future efforts!! It'll be worth it!!! :)

Ethan was really obsessed with his nuks! All of a sudden one night last week he didn't ask for it when he went to bed, so I didn't push it. HE SLEPT W/OUT IT!! So from then on we have thrown them ALL away! He will ask for one every one great in a while, but I always reassure him by telling him he's a big boy.

 Good luck!!
