I know it's probably bad of me to be so happy, but I am ready to have my weekends back for a bit.  My daughter is on the High School Dance Team and they do the 1/2 time shows.  Well we made it into the playoffs for the first time ever.  They made it to Regionals and were 2 games from state and lost Saturday.  Iwas so ready to stop traveling.  While I will admit it was very easy to get caught up in the games.  Watching to boys get so excited, and to see a couple of the senior boys break down at the end was so sad.  I hated it for those guys.  They work so hard.  I am sure a few of them will be playing next year in college.

But to have my daughter back and my weekends slightly more free is a blessing.  I am sure my daughter will try to find ways to fill them up, only I won't have to drive halfway across Texas, just to the mall. lol

Dec. 12, 2006 at 1:53 PM i am glad and sad about that, my son played JR.VAR. for katy. now it is basket ball season which he also plays. mostly for his dad. katy does not have a great bb team.  so i have to push him.  to stay on the team.  sports help tp keep his grades up.  my problem is making him understand u must always play your best.  what ever college coach is watching, is watching individuals not just the team.  if you do your best for the team, even if the loose, they see u. do you have any ideas to help me be his cheerleader?

Dec. 12, 2006 at 3:47 PM You are very right on the coaches and watching.  My brother did a little bit of scouting when he was working for a college.  I would also agree on the keeping busy and it keeps them focused.  My dancing daughter has had a lighter dance load for almost a year and her grade have dropped, she barely keeps her B's, where until last Jan she got A's and 1 or 2 high B's.  So keep him busy.  Best suggestion on being his cheerleader would be to go to the games, try to learn about the sport some so you can talk about it, and just let him know you are proud of his best effort and hard work.
