STAINLESS STEEL!?!? My a-hole!

I have been dying for this new kitchen for a few years now and it is here.  My hubby worked SO hard on it and I helped.  It cost a fortune (for us anyway) but I swear it is horrible all because of Arizona's hard has nails water and stainless steel.  Stainless (whatever) appliances, drawer pulls, back-splashes, slate gray counter tops and they look like they are aged already.  It drives me nuts.  And what were we thinking buying "stainless" with 15 mos old twins and two older boys?  It is impossible to keep clean. 

Add to that the wood floors. They are amazing, beautiful and again hubby worked his arse off to install them himself.  I am so proud of his work but I can't keep them clean.  I sweep and resweep, get down on my hands and knees with disinfecting wipes and then sweep again.  Go to put all the cleaning supplies away, come back in the room and there is a dust bunny the size of my head that has snuck out from somewhere!  WTH???  

The room looks clean all of 5 minutes when I am done.  Hours of work for FIVE MINUTES of BEAUTY!  Oh well, off I go to trap a bunny!

Aug. 10, 2007 at 2:57 PM i've found that the swiffer dry cloths work best for the bunnies.  (and they fit other brands of mops and you can use them with the wet spray and even on furniture, too....) a sweep once around the perimeter of the room will chase them out and then you can nab them all in the middle.  i just got done with mine and am taking a break before vacuuming the bedrooms!

Aug. 10, 2007 at 4:53 PM We live in the brand new housing on base, and the floors are ALL tile..not a bit of carpet to be seen! Let me tell ya,it takes me tons of work and nearly all my energy to try to get things clean, but with a 3 yr old, a 2 yr old, and a newborn, plus 2 cats, it seems as though I do all that work for nothing.

Aug. 11, 2007 at 1:37 PM I am sure it looks beautiful for the 5min a day it is clean, right. We don't have stainless but we did have hardwoods put in and man do I hear ya on that one. Everyone told me I was nuts for wanting them, but by they end of the day they are so disgusting that it makes me sick and I don't have the energy to clean them entirely everyday. And the friggin dog and the boys with their toys are already putting scratches in them and they aren't even paid for yet. And we used to have nice wanesscotting(sp?) but that is getting nicked and needs touch up. I am beginning to understand why some people with kids never do any work to their house. Would you be able to have someone come in and clean the floors and kitchen once in awhile? I am thinking about doing that, but thing is why pay someone if it's just going to get messed up anyway. Anyway, sure it's still gorgoes, send a pic if you get a chance.
