Woo Doggies - it has been hot, hot, hot here in beautiful 'Bama!!   I think back to the days of my youth and remember how hot it was and how I was outside all day long anyway.  I had a horse and I was on her all the time.  Of course we didn't have air conditioner in our house or in our school so the heat differential was not as great.  I think it was actually a lot healthier for everyone.  Now we get a stretch of hot weather - and we have broken a string of 3 digit temperatures so I'll agree it is hot - and all we get are warnings to stay inside.  This kind of thing wasn't possible in the day where we worked the land to survive so I wonder if what we have is truly progress.

I went into work the other morning (where I have a thermometer out of morbid curiousity) and the temperature in the room was 64.5 degrees.  How ridiculous is that?  No wonder we can't handle the heat anymore!  Although to tell you the truth, leaving that particular office (I have two) I can't wait to get outside.  I don't even turn on the air conditioner in my car for about 5 minutes as I warm up to corpse temperature.  I leave the door open to the hall so that we get some of the warmth from the hall and we turn on a heater on full blast.  All of those efforts get the temperature up to about 75 degrees and I still need a blanket or sweater to tolerate the temperature.  And I'm no cold natured soul - I'm 46 years old and starting to feel the heat if you hear where I'm coming from.  I haven't hit menopause yet but I do go through sweating bouts.

We went to a restaurant tonight.  I'll admit I wasn't feeling 100% but I literally had cold shakes in there.  I thought it was freezing.  Do most people actually like the temperature inside to be at a 35 degree differential?  I don't think the human body is made to handle that.  Maybe I should amend that - my body is not made to handle that.  And I'm a soul that hates to be hot when indoors!  Does it matter than I'm Southern born and bred?

When we want to cool off, we head to our neighborhood pool.  Sometimes by bike, sometimes by car.  Unfortunately here is a spot where I would like to dive in to feel the cool surround me but the water is bath temperature at best.  Maybe I'm just one of those souls that just can't be made to be happy!!!

Tomorrow I need to go to the mall to get a few shirts for the girls for school.  And socks for Keegan.  My socks no longer fit his large feet - and he is only 9 years old so far!!!  I probably need to bring a sweater in order to stay long enough to get done what needs to be done.  I've been to one or two places that have had their air conditioning go out.  Quite honestly, those places have been much more comfortable to me than these places that freeze you out.  Here is looking forward to another 3 digit day!
