Furgie-Furg's Journal

Welcome to my world...

yep, that's me. mediocrity at its finest... and it's driving me crazy. all my life i've wished there was just one thing i could be good at, one special talent i might have. nope, not me. i'm mediocre (at best) at everything i have done, everything i attempt. i thought everyone was supposed to be good at something?

i'm not even good at being a mom. i send my kids to their room to play out of my hair all the time. i get frustrated and yell alot. i always tell myself the next day will be different, i will do better. but i never do...

I feel the same way you do.  But, I don't think you are mediocre (sp).  You have something special inside of you.  You are going to school, raising 2 boys, married.  Thats alot!

I was always trying to find my niche in life.  I am good at alot of things but I dont excel in anything.  The other night my BF and good friends were talking and my BF mentioned what a good person I am and he can't believe how lucky he is and wishes he had a mom like me when he was growing up.  And they all said DUH!  That made me feel good.

Aug. 23, 2007 at 10:35 AM I know how you feel, but sometimes looking outside of your own mind and look at yourself as others see you... what do your kids & hubby think of you?  what did your dad think of you? you may not feel as though you are good at anything but maybe they do?  You're a wave of emotions right now, looking for a reason in life, kind of wandering around...I've done that, I know what it feels like.  I always joke around about being a "jack of all trades and master of none" I've had a few jobs in my day, and never really felt like i was good at any of them, I've never had ONE job I've always wanted to do.  I've always lived where I could afford, made do with what I had, and worked the job that paid me the best.  tomorrow is my last day at the job I have now, next week starts a new opportunity and today the lady I work with gave me a card saying I was the best co-worker she ever had, I thought wow...me?  I almost feel sorry for her, lol.

No one ever said being a mom was an easy job.  There are days when we all need a break!  There is nothing wrong with a little me time.  I say figure out what hours of the day you feel at your best and spend that time playing with your kids.  Even if it is only for 30 min i garentee that will be the best part of their day!  Most of the time if you give them a small amount of your time they will give you plenty of time and go off and play for hours/   Do not be so hard on yourself !  All moms yell from time to time.  If we did not do that they would all walk all over us.  Just remember to count to 10 then correct!  You are a great mom I am sure!  You are probably still stressed out from everything you just went through,  It takes time to heal sweetie!  Take time to reflect everyday!  Listen to some soothing music and totally let yourself relax!
