I started school this weekend. I am so excited! I feel alive and invigorated. I love learning. I am starting on my journey to getting my master's degree and teaching license. There is something about gathering with other people on a similar journey and sharing our collective thoughts. It feels wonderful to put my ideas out there and have them heard and accepted as well as listening to others thoughts and ideas. Being able to learn from one another is my greatest joy. I can't wait to find out what this semester has to offer me. I move into this path with some trepidation as well. Can I do it? Am I good enough to complete this program? What if I fail? I have to believe that it will all work out in the end. If nothing else, I have modeled for my children the importance of pursuing higher education.
My son is so inspired by me going to school that he has decided that he will get his master's and be a teacher as well. (He's entering 3rd grade this fall, so he has a long way to go.) I am so glad he feels that way and by my doing this now he can see how much I value education and it is not just mere words. My actions support my values. I believe education is important and I have always had the intention that my children will go on to college after they get out of high school.
I am looking forward to growing as a person and as a student.
