Im struggling to come up with fun things for my son and I to do during the day. I don't want him watching to much TV so after coloring, painting, reading etc. we just run out of things to do. Does anyone have any advice on anything different?

building forts with pillows, blankets, chairs, furniture and "camping out" underneath!

fix indoor smores for snacks and give him flashlights and stuffed buddies.  you can even pretend it's an igloo instead of a fort.  we LOVE bulding forst and tunnels in our hosue!

Feb. 5, 2007 at 10:20 AM Well I've been running out of things to do with my 2 year old too. I just play with him with his toys. Teach him new words and play flashcard games. But I also let him watch tv because if I did'nt he would scream! He loves Spongebobo and Jimmy Neutron and Diego, and Blues Clues etc etc..... It's just really boring in the winter!!! Can't wait till it's over!

Well, I'd say... you have a computer... go do a search for preschool activities online. There are tons of places you can go to sit and play with him. He can learn new letters and play games online that help his education and creativity. Also his hand and eye coordination.

I do this with my 4 yr old. She loves to play the spelling games and silly stuff at nick jr. com.

One other suggestion is Write a story with your kids.  This is amazingly fun!  We've done this with each of my 3 kids. Some places allow you to buy blank or lined journal books. (dollar store)  Start out on chapter one... "There once was a ______ who lived in a _______." They love to use their imagination to come up with the name and his friends and what he does. It becomes an ongoing story that can be added to anytime. And .... It's something they can be proud to read to their children when they have them.  Who knows... They could get it published sometime in their life.
