My son whom will be five in Sept just came out of special ed preschool this year.. He is to go into kendergarden.. But it a regular class.. They told me i can send him to young 5s special ed class that will work with him some more then send him to kendergarden next year.. The kendergarden class he will be in will still help him with his speech and all.. But i am wondering if he will beable to keep up with all the other kids in his class. He knows how to count to 10 and he knows his colors and shapes. He can write most of his abc too. Now repeating them is a little tricky for him.. But he has jumped alot in education wise in the last year.. I am proud of him. I am afriad that if he does go to regular kendergarden and doest move ahead with the rest of the class he will be down on him self.. And feel bad and what not. But if i send him to young fives and he does real good and all that ~ he will hate me for not sending him to regular school and being one year older then the rest of his class.. The choices and all are so over bearing on me. Its to hard to make  a choice that can determain my sons future for the rest of his life... Its scary... I am afraid of making the wrong one and him hating me for the rest of his life as i do my mother for holding me back just cause my twin brother needed more help and i didnt.. I only have 5 days to make up my mind and just the thought of it scares the piss right out of me..

Almost all boys, sepc ed or not are a bit behind girls maturity and social skills.... I was told it is always good to let a boy have that extra year before starting them in school.  I have 2 boy with a Aug 31st Birthday (school hre starts a week before his birthday) and one with a mid Septmebet birthday. I waited will the nest year for them. We home school now, so it doesn't matter.

All 3 of my boys have depays (Autism disorders). I see no reason to not let his wait another year. It never hurts a boy to be GREAT in school and to have a bit of an easier time of it... so why not wait a year.

Well I would send him this year. If he has a hard time keep him back for next year so he will be more than ready for first grade. I did this with my daughter who is doing great and keeping up in school ever since. She is now in 12 grade! So good luck best wishes. Hope this helps.

Have a great day!:)
