Well, as everyone knows I was scheduled for my c-section on August 22nd. According to my dr. at my last visit he wanted me at the hospital at 5:30am. Well, it seems Robert was coming on August 22nd even if a c-section wasn't scheduled.
I started having painful contractions at exactly 1:38am. At first I wasn't sure if I should worry about them or not. The pain was mostly back labor and everyone was killing me. I tried to get as much sleep as possible before I left for the hospital, but it wasn't working at all. I noticed they were very regular and there wasn't much time in between them, so I got up and tried to time them on the Online Contraction Timer. They were actually 4 min apart and lasting for 45sec. Well, by 3:30 am I woke up DH and told him that it was best that we go in ahead of time. That Robert had plans of his own.
Once at the hospital, which took us only 15 minutes at that time in the morning, they quickly got me on a monitor and called my doctor. Come to find out, my c-section wasn't scheduled until 12:30pm. Because I was already in labor they went ahead and rushed everything. The moment they hooked me up to the monitor I was 1-2 minutes apart, 2cm, 30% effaced.
By 6am they took me to the OR and gave me a spinal. My DH explained to them that my biggest fear was the problems I experienced with my last c-section. The doctor stated he would try to numb me up enough so that I will not feel anything. And that is what they did. It did sting a little, but it was no where near as bad as the last time. Before I knew it, my doctor was there and already had me cut open. It was weird feeling the moving around in my stomach and all and the pressure from them getting Robert out was really strange, but everything was over and done with in 15 minutes.
I got to hold him for a while and DH was able to see everything this time compared to things Little Ernest. While he walked Robert to the nursery I was sewed up taken to my permanent room. Not long after that they brought me my little man so I could feed him. By 7am everything was great.
Robert Alfonso weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz., 19in.
