My husband and I have gotten to a point where we are just exhausted at night with our child waking up 3 and 4 times a night. He starts out in his own bed and then cries almost every 2 hours. So, naturally as new parents, we think he's hungry, we bring into bed with us to feed him, and what do you know... he hardly eats, but falls back asleep agian only to do a repeat of the above. We're done! He's 8 months old... he doesnt need to eat that much at night.

Last night, we tried some "tough love" on him. Put him to bed with a full stomach, and shut his door with no intentions of getting up to get him. He cried for about 10 minutes, then fell asleep. I went in to check on him, and he was purched on his bumper looking out at the door still waiting for someone to come in to get him. My heart just broke! I picked up up and put him back into the center of his bed and he started screaming again. I walked out, shut his door and with in minutes he was completely out. He didn't say a word the rest of the night and morning! He ate at 6 am, and is still asleep! My husband and I actually got to sleep last night! It's amazing! I recommend trying this method if your baby is over 7 months old. My dr. said that they don't really NEED TO eat during the night anymore, and that they just want comfort. So... I gave the door shutting a whirl, and it works! I am so happy! YAY for sleep!
