A Public Dear John Letter

Dear "Reply to All" Button,

I realize that we haven't known each other very long. Why, it was only a few short weeks ago that we met at that little cafe with the comfortable barstools. My heart was filled with joy the very first time I saw you casually leaning there in the right corner. I knew then and there that you and I and our little cafe were meant to be. You felt it too, didn't you? Yes, I could tell that you did.

Our passion, however, burned much too hot to last. The death march of our relationship began that very same afternoon when I realized that you were readily available to anyone who happened to cross your path; and, although I hate to use such language, you became nothing but a common tramp in my eyes. My friends, their friends, their friends' friends, the baristas behind the counter... everyone had a go at you! And through you, everyone also had a go at me. My mailbox became nothing more than a common outlet for your conquests to boast and complain. With each received message, I felt dirtier and more violated than ever before.

I've registered my complaints several times, and you've but turned a deaf ear and charming smile in response...And to this very day, you continue on with your cheating ways- sullying each and every happy memory that we've created together.

I really thought that I could see this through... That this was but a kink of sorts in our new relationship. That with time and attention, you would change for the better. But you won't. You cannot.

Thus, I am afraid that I have to tend my good-byes. I can't continue on this way any longer. I will always hold the memory of you close to my heart and patiently await the day when you come to your senses and learn to behave properly.

P.S. In the meantime, I but ask that you avoid our favorite little cafe... It was mine first, and I'll not have you ruin it for me.
