I am supposed to reach out to a lady who needs a touch this week. It is an exercise required by my Bible Study group. This was assigned on Sunday evening, and now it is Thursday, and I haven't made the effort to reach out to anyone. Well, I haven't made any extra efforts, anyway.

I want to be God's hand extended to others...but I'm too selfish and lazy to put the work into it. What a sad testimony that is. God has done so much for me - salvation, family, daily provisions, the fulfillment of so many of my desires... Why am I not willing to put some effort out for Him?

So I'm going to brainstorm some ways to fulfill this requirement.

    • Spend time alone with my daughter
    •

    • Pray with someone in need
    •

    • Provide a meal for a family who is struggling (the neighbors?)
    •

    • Pick up groceries for someone who is unable to go out (do I know anyone like that?)
    •

    • Send a card to a discouraged friend (RD?)
    •

    • Make a "ladies only" date with a busy mother
    •

    • Give a frazzled lady a "pamper me" bag
    •

Okay...I'm happy with this list for now. I guess the next step is to get busy and put these things into practice! I'm going to start by preparing the card for RD, and then I'm going to plan something with my daughter.

"Oh to be His hand extended,

Reaching out to the oppressed.

Let me touch Him, let me touch Jesus,

So that others may know

And be blessed."

I would love to get any input that anyone else has to offer...

Sep. 20, 2007 at 8:15 PM Thanks for sharing. Awesome ideas. My 13yr. old is in hate mode. It is so hard to discipline and love and know that they are so easily embarassed and so angry drama queens who will soon be 14. Pray she forgives me soon and learns to love me back. Thanks Sue
