Okay, so today we get to go to my dad's graduation from the detention officer academy.  My dad is (I believe) 63 years old.  He retired from the US Forest Service probably close to 10 years ago.  He's been working and not working at odd jobs over the last few years to keep himself busy and to keep my mom off his back! LOL  Anyway, they moved to AZ in Dec. of last year.  This spring, he started the process of becoming a detention officer in Maricopa county.  In the academy, he's been training with men who are much younger than him (some so young that I hesitate to call them men!).  I think the man closest to his age is 51.  Every time we've visited, he's showed us a different group of bruises or scrapes from training.  He loved learning all the defensive moves and how to take someone down with handcuffs.  My kids think it's so cool that their Papa has a REAL set of handcuffs!  I think it's cool that my 63 year old dad can keep up with the 19 yo boys!  I'm so proud of him!  His group is proud of him too.  He's been asked to be one of the special speakers at the graduation today.  How neat is that?  This whole experience is going to keep him young.  You can just see it in his face and in the way he carries himself.  Well, I just had to share how proud I am of my dad!
