Is it just me.... or do all sweet old ladies, nosey neighbors, people in the grocery stores, and anyone else who opens their mouth to compliment you on your precious little baby NOT recognize that PINK = GIRL and BLUE = BOY?

Granted, they are only 6 months old and their hair is less than an inch in length... but c'mon!!!  At least 90% of the time, I dress my twin girls both in pink or one in pink, one in lavender.  Usually they are wearing matching or color coordinated dresses or outfits with flowers, butterflies, or ruffles!!  Why then do they tell me how cute they are, then say "Both boys?  or one of each?"   I would say that 60% of the people say that to me... even new parents!! (One would think that the current parents of an infant would know better.)

Are boys the more desirable baby to have?  Does lilac or lavender look too much like baby blue?  One of these days, I might snap and haul off on someone who tells me that maybe I should pierce their ears so everyone can tell they are girls/

OK, done venting.

lol wow, I dont know how many times this has happened to me. My first and 2nd daughter have ALWAYS been in pink/purple.. My oldest had eyelashes and hair longer then my legs.. She was the most gorgeous lil baby girl and people always said it.. I even had a pink carseat and pink toys hanging from it and I still get it.. Some people are ridiculous lol.

3teen...

Well, years ago I took my daught shopping, she was in a DRESS with a HAIR BARRETTE in her hair and some old man came up and said, "Well, look at that little feller, ain't he cute!"  I will admit that at the time she had rubbed all the hair from the sides and back of her head and she had a mohawk, but I always had a ribbon or something in it.

Some lady asked me if I gave her a mohawk on purpose!  She was 6 months old! Why in the world would I give her a mohawk?

one of my best friends has a little girl.  i remember being at the mall with her one day when arianna was about 6 months old... ari was dressed in a little pink outfit with those ruffly socks and white shiny dress shoes, with one of those little pink bow headbands on.   someone walked up and said "what an adorable little boy you have!!!!!"

my friend was stunned silent.  i responded with something along the lines of "yeah, drag queen training starts REALLY early around here"  she didn't get it.

I was at the store last winter with my son who was 8 months. He was dressed head to toe in blue. Blue hat, blue coat, blue pants and shoes . And I'm talking Dark blue (could not be mistaken for any other color) and the cashier says Awww. How old is she?????

WHAT!!!

People just don't really pay attention, lol

My girls have always been mistaken for little boys, and they were always in pink or purple.  People also used to ask me if you two oldest were twins.  Yes, I just held one in for 15 months longer than the other, lol.  They are 15 months apart, not to mention they look COMPLETELY different!  The oldest has always been above average in size for her age, and the other has always been very very petite!  So they look even more than 15 months, but I still always got people asking if they were twins.

I dress my daughter in pink including the shoes, she has a pink blanket, pink toys and a pink car seat/stroller, she is tiny (fifth percentile), has a full head of hair and the longest eyelashes I've ever seen on a six month old and people ask, "Is it a little boy?" I say, "Yeah, we don't believe in gender restrictions."
