Hi there boysx5.
I am shell and your post caught my eye. I just had to respond to ya.
Well, I am a mother of 5 and we homeschool and have many activities through the week and such well, you can always read that at my page if you like but, back why I am responding.
We have 5 kids and we do not have any family close by and even if we did which we used to until we moved...no one ever watched our children. My relatives won't and neither would our in laws. Hiring a babysitter is just out of the question. I mean by the time I did and went out just for dinner and a movie it would cost us a fortune.
Anyway, so what I am getting at is what my husband and I do being no sitter is in our future and not one we can trust even. (I mean now a days).
Usually 1 tuesday a month my husband brings home chinese it's just a favorite dish of ours the kids I feed them before hand. Now if you have a child under 3 this may be more difficult to accomplish. But, what we do is put on a movie for our kids like curious george our oldest is in his room. But, the other kids will watch the movie or a movie they haven't seen. While my husband and I have a candle light dinner. The kids at first would be crazy..but, we talked to them telling them how important it was for mom and dad to get time together. Now our 3 year old still doesn't always get it but, we continue to have our date night. After supper we watch a movie the kids know they have to either watch it and be quiet (if it's appropriate) if not then it's off to bed which is between 9-10pm which is fair.
After the movie we try to make time for romance sometimes due to my little girl being just afraid of her room even though there is a nightlight we will lay in bed and talk while she falls asleep in our bed once asleep we put her in bed and have the evening to ourself in our room. Sometimes it works and sometimes not....you may have to do trial and error for a bit to see what works for your family or what works for the kiddos.
There are times dh and I get up at 5am to have breakfast and coffee and time together. This may work for you also....stealing a date anytime we can...hugs and good luck with it.
Ha.
Going out??? That's a good one :) Last time we went out we only had one child... lol.
Now we have three :D
Lets get a group of local moms and take turns watching each others kids so we can all take turns getting out hehe.

Date night in the bedroom after the kiddies go to bed? I know it is late and you guys are usually tired. But, if you get the kids involoved and ask them to help you decorate and make a sign for your door etc.. then they will be more likely to cooperate.
Another thought is to let them sleep over someones house and then you can return the favor...???
