I stumbled upon the coolest website while surfing around here at CafeMom, the other day.

http://www.leagueofmaternaljustice.com

TODAY--10/10/07 @ 10:00AM, they are PROTESTING FaceBook's BAN on BREASTFEEDING photos by hosting a Virtual Nurse-In.

Just visit their site for more info on this and other League of Maternal Justice's missions!!!

It was very important to me to participate in this for several reasons, one of which being the fact that I missed the "Keep Austin Breastfeeding" demonstration a few weeks ago.
I really wanted to participate, but family issues took precedence that day.

As a breastfeeding mommy--who had very BAD luck with nursing the first time around, and almost gave up on it THIS time around, I feel it is more important than EVER to encourage moms to keep nursing, even when they feel discouraged or feel that they simply won't be able to.
If I can do it, ANY MOM CAN!!!

I was young when I had my son.
I WANTED to nurse him, but after about three tiring days of trying, we gave up and gave the thirsty little tyke a bottle with water.
He took to it like mad, and later that day, I started using a breast pump.

I pumped for about a week before deciding to supplement with formula.

After about two weeks of that, I went to formula alone.

I was glad that my son got, at least, SOME breast milk--including colostrum.

He's been a pretty healthy kid overall, but HAS had some digestive issues, as well as very sensitive skin--he gets terrible athletes foot and his scalp is super-sensitive.

I never thought anything of those things until I decided I would breastfeed my daughter.
(Researching this made me realize that some of these problems are prevalent among bottle-fed babies!)

I didn't want a repeat of the last time, so I armed myself with books and tons of advice. (Thanks to my midwives and several kind CafeMoms!!!)

My daughter took right to the breast, unlike my son, but within a few days, my poor ta tas were SO sore I would cry everytime she would latch on.

I was ready to give up again--and just pump. But, with the loving help of my midwife, and a LOT of helpful nursing products, I have been able to continue this amazing function, and plan to continue for a VERY long time!

I feel just like SUPERWOMAN, being able to do this.

It is safe to say that I see boobs in a WHOLE NEW LIGHT!!! :-)

So, count me in on this, the day of the Virtual Nurse-In.

And to FaceBook, who so callously DISALLOWS photos of MOTHERS FEEDING THEIR CHILDREN, I will say a very crass term, but in THIS instance, it takes on a whole new meaning:

EAT ME!!!

And last but not least...

That's me: A nursing mama and her nursing little baby. If there is something wrong with that, then I am guilty. Not even the best (BREAST!) attorney could dispute otherwise.
GUILTY AS CHARGED, AND LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!

Im so happy that bf is working out for you.  I too had probs with 1st ds and gave up.  But luckily, ds #2 took to it like a fish to water.

My question:  why do they let girls put provocative pics up of themselves showing WAAAAAY more cleavage in a tank top than you do bf'ing and they are offended?  At the risk of sounding like an old lady, it sounds like a bunch of men run that place!!

I also feel like I'm getting old, but I TOTALLY agree with you! Women wear next to nothing and that's not offensive to anyone? I am offended by it! I wouldn't want my children to look at it!

Congrats to you for doing so well with bf this time around!! I am the same way!  I nursed my first for about 3 months, because we started giving her a bottle, too. We're doing bottles this time as well, but not nearly as many..I just enjoy being able to sleep sometimes, b/c my baby boy eats CONSTANTLY!
