2 years ago today, at exactly this time, i was in the hospital being induced and waiting for this baby to just come out! LOL! I was 10 days overdue and still no labor so my doctor told me to go to the hospital. At about 3 p.m. on this day 2 years ago, I had just been admitted to the hospital. Before that, Anthony & I stopped at In & Out Burger 'cause he knew i'd be hungry! LOL! I'm sure glad we did 'cause it ended up that i couldn't eat for 2 days!!!
This is me just after we arrived and got settled in our room....boy, was i huge?!?

Daddy already claimed HIS chair! LOL! We went in and my mom and my birth coach & best childhood friend, Kathy, met us there. He wanted to make sure he'd have a place to crash for the night! LOL!

They gave me the Pitocin after this LONG process of getting me all signed in and everything, ughh! We were waiting a while for that. I was just sitting there halfway excited and halfway scared, just waiting for something to happen! LOL!

Still patiently waiting, and Daddy gets up there for a picture!

The night went on, and still not much was happening! The doctor came in to check me periodically and said the baby was not even dropped! He couldn't figure that out! I was already 10 days overdue according to their estimate of my due date. You know how sometimes they can be wrong though! Anyway, finally i was starting to feel some kind of contractions but it wasn't much. Kathy kept asking me if i was feeling anything and was trying to get me prepared for that. I still couldn't feel much. I told her i am so used to having alot of pain because of my endometriosis so it could be that i just can't tell! LOL! Anyway, then they told me the baby was starting to have aspirations so i had to wear an oxygen mask! That was kinda scary but i got used to it!

This was the NEXT morning, on October 11th at 6 a.m.! I was still waiting! I didn't sleep too well!

Then, around 11 a.m., I found out i was going to have to have a c-section! The doctor came by and checked me again and still no signs of anything! He was getting quite puzzled! He was also upset with the nurses and doctors there because they didn't quite go by his specific instructions. They had decided to take me off of the Pitocin when the baby was having aspirations and they didn't put me back on it. They were afraid that if i went into labor while on the Pitocin would cause the baby to stop breathing. He was just upset about them delaying everything. In the beginning, they hadn't put me on it right away so that was why he was upset. He was like, We may have had a baby by now if you guys would've listened to me! LOL! It all worked out for all of our good though! He had one of the ultrasound technicians come in there and do an ultrasound of the baby and what do ya know..he estimated the baby to be in between 9 and 10 lbs! My eyes got so big and i was so scared! I was thinking, How in the world am i going to do this?? I am a big boned person but not so big down there, i am actually quite small and thank God my doctor knew that! LOL! He called me on the phone after he heard the results of the ultrasound and he said, "You are going to see your baby by 3 p.m. today. We are doing a c-section and this baby is coming out!" I was so scared and started crying at first. I wanted so bad to have a natural birth but after being encouraged by Anthony, my mom, and Kathy, i felt much better about it and just wanted to see my baby! They started measuring me and listening for the heartbeat to prepare for the surgery! I look a little scared here...LOL!

FINALLY....at around 2:30 p.m., they took me into surgery and gave me the epidural! That was such a weird feeling! I started to hyperventilate a little when i couldn't feel my legs! I just couldn't stand that feeling of not being in control! It was very scary! I just wanted them to get this baby out and get me back to normal! LOL! They began the surgery and here he comes...

Then, at 2:42 p.m., on October 11, 2005, Aiden James Wing was born!

He weighed 9 lbs, 3 oz, 21 inches long! He was such a beautiful baby! I went into shock for a few minutes just trying to register that he was actually mine! It was such an awesome and amazing feeling! I'm sure you all know what I'm talkin' about! ;)
They began cleaning him up right away and checking his vitals. This was the nurses face after she measured his head...14 cm?! No way!

I was just patiently waiting and watching them clean up my baby. I couldn't wait to hold him! It seemed like an eternity though!

Daddy & Dr. Douglas (my OB/GYN doctor) posing for a picture....

Then, they gave me my beautiful baby boy!! It was so amazing!!

They showed me how to breastfeed him right away and i was a complete natural! It was so much easier than i'd heard it was! Aiden latched on right away! I was a happy camper!

We were both getting it down and Daddy was so proud! LOL!

After that, they got me over to my room for recovery time, and all the family met us there.
My brother, the proud new Uncle & my sister Tania (in the background), the new Auntie!

Anthony's Dad, Grandpa Al...

Mommy making phone calls and receiving a ton of them already! I was so out of it! I remember them giving me morphine for the pain and i did NOT like it! I told them not to give it to me. They looked at me like i was so crazy! LOL! I said, "Vicodin will do." LOL!

The proud Daddy!

And our sweet baby boy, Aiden James!
He had to be submitted to the special care nursery because he was having some breathing problems and it ended up that he got an infection from the fluids that got into his lungs during surgery. He had respiratory distress because of the stress of the delivery. He just was not ready to come out! He got a bacterial infection and was given antibiotics for that. He also had a pneumothorax which is basically like a collapsed lung. They had to stick a needle in his chest to get the excess air out so that he could breath properly without overworking himself. Poor baby! It was such a scary time!
Mommy & Daddy visiting Aiden in the nursery...
I finally got to eat REAL food, 2 days later!! I was ecstatic! LOL!

I made my way down to the nursery, very slowly! They were encouraging me to try and start walking and boy was that hard!!! Just wanting to see my baby gave me the motivation though!

Daddy's turn!

I could've stayed there and held him all day long!!

He already was attached to the binky! LOL!

I just LOVE his little funny faces he was making already!

Getting burped by the nurse, he was being fed through an IV.

I just LOVE this picture....

He ended up having to stay in the NICU for 5 days in addition to the 3 days in the special care nursery in the other hospital. He was transferred to a hospital with a NICU. This was on October 14th, when he was transferred over there and had to be under an oxygen mask for a while.

He didn't like that thing!! He was trying to pull it off! LOL!

The next day, they started slowly weaning him off of the oxygen and he was doing so well!

My poor baby! He was poked and prodded so much I'm sure he was getting tired of it!
Of course, i went home from the hospital on the 13th, so i was coming up to the hospital everyday to visit him and they started off by having me pump my milk and bring it in and when i came in they would let me feed it to him in the bottle a little bit at a time.

Night-night baby!

On the 16th, I came in to feed him again and brought my Dad with me so he could see his grandson again. He was so proud!

He already mastered holding his own binky!! Smart baby! ;)

I finally got to hold my baby for the first time since he was transferred to the NICU. They wouldn't let me before when he was getting high levels of oxygen and his condition was more critical. Yay, i was so happy!

The proud Grandma, "Mammaw"!

And the proud Auntie! (My sister, Tania)

On the 17th, i FINALLY got to breastfeed him again! Woohoo! LOL! It was a learning experience for both of us, LOL!

Nana Charmaine (my Dad's girlfriend) came with me and she helped me with it too. She got to hold her new Grandson for a while too!

They took Aiden OFF the oxygen!! Yippee! He was doing GREAT. :)

Uh oh! We have a hungry baby boy now! The nurses said this was the first time he REALLY cried since he was there! That was a good sign...that he was HUNGRY! That was such a relief!! Not because he was crying, but you know what i mean! LOL!

Daddy holding & admiring his new baby boy! Check out Aiden, holding up his binky again! LOL!

Aiden & Grandma Lori (Anthony's Mom)...

Our sweet baby boy is doing so good!!

Sweet kisses from Daddy...

On the 19th, we FINALLY got to bring him home! We got him all dressed in his going home outfit!

Mommy was soooo ready to take her baby boy home!! :)

He's all bundled up! Holding that binky again! LOL!

Aiden's 1st car ride! On the way home!

We FINALLY made it home and Aiden was STILL sleeping. I was trying to enjoy that but was also so happy to have my baby that i just stared at him and watched him for the longest time! LOL!

Daddy couldn't resist..he had to pick him up! ;)

His 1st night sleeping in his own bed! This was the bassinet we got for him. He ended up only using it for a couple days because most of the time he preferred to sleep in his car seat! That was the only way he would stay asleep! Mommy learned all the tricks though! LOL!

Thank God that he made it through all that he did. He surely is a gift from God and we thank God every day for blessing us with such a miracle! He is my dream come true! :)
