On Monday night I went to the first Rockaway MOMS Club bookgroup. Do any of you belong to MOMS Club? The women were not sure exactly what to do in a book group (which was fine by me--I've been to so many, I can just ad lib!), but they were thoughtful, open, and fascinating. I love when something I've written sparks discussion--and I loved hearing to whom they related (the working or stay at home mom), how the book brought up thoughts about their own lives, and how they were managing the infamous juggle.

One pair of moms swap childcare when one mom is working---they each have two (young!) kids, and I was so impressed that they seemed to be a good match, parenting-style-wise.

It was well worth the drive to hear it all!

Oct. 10, 2007 at 8:05 PM I tried book club for a while but decided it wasnt for me.  I do enjoy reading but for my me time I dont want to hear all about kids, kids, kids and people complaining about their hubbys.  So when I have girl time me and a few close friends go to dinner and kids are off topic...

that is so great. i did a book club once... it was terrible... none of them really read the books ever & mostly just got together once a week to drink wine & gossip about whoever wasn't in attendance.  i no longer am part of that bookclub, but i am pretty sure i am still fodder for gossip!

i am glad that the rockaway book club was so good! sounds like it was a great experience.
