I have a year lease that runs up in August.  Can someone please tell me or give me some ideas of getting out of the apt lease.  We can give 60 days notice but I think they are going to want to charge us rent until they can rent out the place which we can NOT do.  We will be moving into our house in December.  Any thoughts and all ideas will be appreciated!

Mind you I live on the 4th floor walking 3 flights of stairs with a six week old.  PLEASE HELP!!!

I have no idea what you can do!  Our lease is a year also, and like you, if we break it, we have to keep paying the rent till someone else decides to rent it.  I hope you can figure something out!

nurse...

can you sub-lease it? You rent it to someone else until the end of your lease. Or you can find someone to lease it getting you out of it.

Read your lease agreement, but some leases will let you get out if you are purchasing a home and you can prove it, which obviously you can.. Just a thought, at least in Florida some leases where written that way..  If not, create an add in craigslist atlanta, and I'm pretty sure someone will sublease from you.. keep in mind, you are still responsible if anything happens...  Good Luck!!

Some lease agreements will let you out but you have to pay a "fine", usually it's like an extra months rent plus a bit more.  I know for the apartment we live in now we pay $790 a month & if we terminated our lease earlier we would have to give 60 days notice plus pay one month's market value rent which is like $1050.
