It's been a crazy week around here. I have been planning the Chinese New Year's celebration for my daughter's preschool class. Chinese New Year is February 7, 2008. It should be lots of fun. I got onto a web site for China Sprout and ordered a catalogue. They have lots of cool Chinese stuff. The kids are even going to get special envelopes with Chinese lucky money and chop sticks to eat their Chinese lunch. It should be really great for my daughter and the other kids should learn lots as well. She is the only Chinese girl in her preschool, so the kids do ask lots of questions. Education is the key to making sure that kids don't make insensitive comments about our family (created by adoption).
We went to Gatlinburg a month or so ago. We went to a Chinese Acrobat show called Legends of China. The theater was amazing, but empty. The tickets were very reasonable, so I am unsure about the reason for this. I questioned the theater owner and she said that the theater has a Sevierville address and that most people plan their vacation on the internet, so when they look up Gatlinburg, the theater doesn't show in their search. That stinks, because I have seen Chinese Acrobats in Beijing, and these performers were really super. They had a top notch all female Chinese drum corps that was superb! Lets get the word out about this amazing show so they don't have to close down for such a stupid reason! The performers were all from Beijing, and mostly rather young.
I am currently reading Prophesy by Sylvia Browne. Very insightful! I have followed her for years.
I have been working on some appropriate art for my portfolio. I am hoping to have my web site up and running very soon. Before you know it, I'll be peddling my work to the publishing houses. I honestly don't know why I didn't think of this opportunity before. I want to do some freelance publishing work for children's books, ages 3-8. So far, I have three awesome pieces done. I am so stoked. The medium is watercolor. It's funny, I used to hate working with it. I haven't touched them in about 18 years. I did notice that the pigments are much better than they used to be.
Michaela is going to be Stephanie from Lazy Town for Halloween. She loves that show. It is very theatrical, but I have to admit, I can hardly stand it myself. Hope that everyone reading this is happy and healthy. Please give me some feedback!
