We had such a great time yesterday! It was so cold and our poor bride was a bit chilly. Jennifer has only been married for two weeks and she couldn't wait to trash her dress. Oh these modern brides are so open minded and up for anything! The best thing about trash the dress is how excited she was to put her wedding gown on again. This time there was no sense of urgency, no worries about wrinkling or dragging, in fact, wrinkles and dragging were required! Since the sun is getting lower in the sky our window of opportunity had to be timed just so. I shot with my friend Heidi, who is a wedding photographer and had never heard of trash the dress, I was her stylist - setting up the shots, checking hair and whipping out that lip gloss at a moments notice. But did you think I would go anywhere without MY camera - oh I think not! Jennifer co-owns a salon with her mom Bernadette and gives awesome pedicures and manicures as well as a beautiful makeup artist. We wanted her to have really smoky eyes and glossy glossy lips and her hair down and almost like she just got out of bed, she's a beautiful girl and a very happy newlywed.
Our first stop was downtown Newburyport on the waterfront in a boat yard. We didn't shoot any of the boats, but the buildings down there are so cool with weathered brick buildings, some graffiti and rusty window grates. We wanted that urban feel. It was funny how the fishermen and businessmen alike, didn't really look twice at this bride hanging off a window grate, guess they've seen stranger. We hopped in the car and had to stop at the store for bubble gum - you know me and my bubble gum - it makes a great shot! We headed to a very old cemetary in town - blowing bubbles in a cemetary seemed ironic in a way. Then off we went to my favorite farm, Spencer Peirce - and then a quick shot by the side of the road in the middle of the cattails.
I took so many photos and way too many to show here - but I picked out a few of my favorites to share. Please let me know what you think. It was my first time and let me tell you it was a lot of work - I would suggest having an assistant with you while you are shooting to help arrange the dress, hair, climbing and twirling and of course the all important lip gloss!! (this is also my first time shooting in raw instead of jpg - and i love it!)

Way cool, I love them all. The bubble gum shots are my favorite, that is such a clever idea, these are just awesome!!!
All of these are goergous!!! I have never heard of "trash the dress" before and I love it! what a wonderful idea, because on the wedding day you tip toe around everything to keep the dress perfect. You are very talented and have inspired me to try some new things. I was married about 3 1/2 years ago... I wonder if it is too late to trash my wedding dress? I love the different places you guys went! I wish we had some like that around here.
anyways... GREAT job!!!!
