i don't know, i don't really let my son cry it out because well he doesn't cry for no reason but when it comes to going to bed i will admit that my son is spoiled rotten. i went through the torture of my oldest crying it out and i just can't do it anymore. i couldn't actually do bedtime the whole time she was a baby because it broke my heart so my husband had to put her to bed while i went outside. i didn't have to let my second child cry it out because she slept all the time and now with my third i just can't let him cry. my son is spoiled and he is clingy and he does tend to stay right on me but i don't mind that so long as i get to keep my sanity.

I have a hard time listening to my baby cry but I do it because I believe if I give into him quickly even at this age he will learn that is how he gets his way and I'll be in hell when he gets older with a fit-throwing, wanting-his-way-all-the-time toddler. Dr. Sears was saying it could be damaging your child's health if you are letting the kid scream for 10, 20 or 30 minutes. Seriously, what mom is going to let a baby scream for THAT long. I let my son cry it out for no longer than 3 to 5 minutes before I go in and try something else. I do think that any longer than that could be considered neglect and is not healthy for a baby. So I do not jump up as soon as he makes a noise. If other moms do, that's fine. I'm not telling anyone how to raise their children. I just thought I'd leave my opinion on the matter. Thank you.
