Happy Hallow's Eve 2007
Tonight everyone in our building that felt like being there, met in the community room. More than half of us were in costumes. There was a baby in a onesy with rattle and doll, an animal doc with her dog in bandages, a 74 year old bag lady from Alaska, a gal with MS that wore a great big T-shirt, and a gift bag with eye holes, four of us wore outfits of orange and black. The gal across the hall from me wore something from Arizona, and had a ponytail right on top of her head. Four of the guys there wore their street clothes. I was in black slacks and turtleneck with an orange vest, and a rhinestone brooch that was almost 3 inches across. I chickened out on the orange hat I was going to wear. The bldg. manager was missing most of the night, however, without the traditional games and prizes, we all visited with each other, told stories, and laughed a lot, we had a "Star circle" horror flick going in the background, and shared desserts of a couple of pumpkin pies, pumpkin bundt cake, devils food cake etc. all with whipped cream.... Plus, we all brought our hand-out treats for neighborhood kids that came. There came about 14 trick-or-treaters in costume over the period of the witching hour. We worried and pondered about where the manager was, we knew she was up river at the other building that she manages. But still, some of us thought she had said she'd be back by 6:30 or 7. Just before we cleaned up and got ready to leave she popped in through the side door with her two little dogs. ROLF! She was in a complete, (almost) clown outfit, with the rainbow wig, painted face, two full size pillows padding her middle, ballet slippers, green and blue and polka dotted suit. (She was minus the nose because she couldn't breath well with it on!) I got pictures on my cell phone, and while taking them I realized that it was her laughter that had been missing all evening. We wound down, shared some of the leftover candies, and returned to our apartments, back to our single lives, but much rewarded for the gaiety of the evening....This was then, now I am building up to a great Hallow's Eve for 2008!!......................................................................................................................
