It's almost 4 months now since my husband died, July 7, 2007, and I'm surviving.  Isn't that weird 7-7-7, triple sevens, my kids brought that to my attention a while ago and asked me if I thought it meant anything and I said no.  We were married for 22 years and together 24.  As you all know, we have 3 beautiful children; Mike who's 20, Blake 16 and Brandi 13 (daddy's little girl).  We were a very close family who did a lot of things together.  I'm trying to keep them focus, hard at times, but they're doing just fine.  The younger two are doing well in school and the oldest didn't go back to school, but finally enrolled in a community college.  He thought that he had to get a job to take care of me and his brother and sister, but I told him his father wouldn't want him to be a quitter so instead of going away to school, he decided to stay home and go to a community college (I think to keep an eye on me).  I've received a lot of support here though Cafe Mom and wanted to say thanks to all of you.  Continue to keep my family in your daily prayers.

Val

Good morning,

I'm just starting the day and can feel it's going to be a tough one. Have a parent/teacher conference today and since we always went together, I know it's going to be hard.

I hope you have a good day!

Nov. 8, 2007 at 10:05 AM I know what you mean about the 7"s ..I also have them..let me revise that ..TJ always had 7's and 3's Form his birth, all threw life to his death...It is very weird indeed...I'm glad that your children are adjusting...We were a very closeknit family as well.........The holidays are gonna be rough.....Hugs,jennifer

Nov. 8, 2007 at 2:37 PM My oldest is a girl, and she is very protective of me too.  I think they jump into that role without really realizing it.   Sometimes I have to remind her of who is the parent, although i really do appriciate it.  Yeah, the holidays are going to be rough, but you have to keep on for the kids.  Things are going to be very different, but I would suggest trying to keep a lot of the same holiday traditions.  I remember after the new year last year, I just felt a sence of relief because we had gotten through our first without him.  I will be here if you ever want to talk - i will try to help any way I can!      -Mary
