Hi folks! I hope that this message finds everyone well. I just received an email from WACAP, a group that helps to facilitate international adoption of children that have medical issues. I have followed this group for a long time and I have an acquaintance who adopted two children through WACAP. WACAP is now able to facilitate adoptions through Ethiopia. This is exciting news for children waiting for homes from that country. I just want to tell everyone what adoption has done for our lives, in the event that there are some readers that have thinking about doing it. We have been so incredibly blessed by God in regards to our child. She was adopted from China at the very end of 2004. Our entire life imploded about four months ago, and our daughter is what is keeping us slogging through it now, no doubt about that! She is beautiful and wonderful. She wakes up happy and she is loving and thoughtful. There is a tough side to every choice that we make, but the things we have to work for are the things that are usually the most worthwhile. When we brought our daughter home, she did have some minor health problems and delays that needed to be worked through. She didn't sleep for the first two years. She needed constant attention (which we were only too thrilled to give her) as she adjusted. All these things are doable though, if you have some support. Adoption is a good arrangement. She needed a home, we wanted a child without the pregnancy. God makes sure that you get the right baby, but you must have faith. Just like pregnancy, a multitude of things can go wrong. Do your homework, find a great agency that others say is great as well. Save your money. Ask your family and friends to be patient and loving to you during the process, because it is stressful. We made the decision over alot of objections from certain members of our family. It was absolutely worth it. After our referral came, those objections were silenced. She belongs with us, and we belong with her. What else can anyone expect from parenthood? What a miracle! If anyone is looking for an adoption agency, I would highly recommend Great Wall of China Adoptions, out of Texas. They were superb. We also used an agency called Cherub International, for our home study and local work. Cherub did a fabulous job for us as well. Please become my friend if you are going through this or thinking of this, it would be nice to talk to you!
