Glucose test results

It's been a crazy few days! It all started when I failed my 1 hour glucose screening. I probably shouldn't have eaten a Starbucks blueberry muffin, chocolate-chip banana nut coffee cake and white chocolate popcorn that day...but you live and learn...:) Because I failed, I needed to get the 3 hour test on Monday. That was drama! After fasting for 12 hours, I was so weak within 1 hour into my test. I almost fainted twice, my blood pressure dropped so low that I almost had to be admitted into the hospital. Somehow I got through it by drinking a TON of water and lying down under heated towels since I was shaking so badly. Whew...that wasn't fun! Today, I received my results and 3 out of 4 were normal while one was a little high. The nurse on the phone said that I needed to make an appointment with a dietetion and begin to check my blood sugar levels from now on. I couldn't believe it....I'm telling you...I have modified my diet during this pregnancy and have felt great throughout. I no longer eat/drink aspertame, drink coffee or soda, eat too much chocolate (Halloween was a bit of an exception) and eat lots of veggies and fruits.....plus I'm measuring normal but am still showing small so I know that my baby isn't big. I still felt uneasy so I called my doctor this evening and asked him again about my test. He said that I indeed DID pass the test and that there is no need to have my diet modified, and there is no need for a dietition. I felt so relieved talking to him. I think the thing that I learned is that I know that they are covering their bases, but instincts are a powerful thing and it's important to stay in contact with your own doctor who knows you and your background. He DID say that my iron is slightly low which I can understand because I have not been eating much red meat. He said I could take an iron suppliment for that. I can handle that! Here's to a healthy, happy, and hopefully uneventful duration of pregnancy for all of us!
