I had a wonderful labor and delivery experience, I was due on January 15th but didn't go into labor until 28th. I stayed at home until Monday 29th because my water hadn't broken and I didn't want to go to the hospital until I was in active labor. My husband and I arrived at the hospital on Monday night at 10:30pm, and I was excited to find out I was dilated 4cm. I wanted to have a natural birth so I stayed on my feet, walking, rocking, and bouncing on birthing ball as long as possible. At around 7am I was at 8cm and in too much pain to walk so I got into bed until I was ready to push at around 10am. I pushed for 2 1/2 hours but my son was stuck behind my pelvic bone so my mid-wife suggested I they start a pitocin drip to help my contractions become a little stronger and work with me a little better. It was a great idea because I gave birth to my son about 45min later at 1:13 pm on January 30th.
About an hour later they tried to move me from the labor room into a recovery room but I hadn't stopped bleeding. Come to find out that I had developed a blood clot the size of my placenta in my uterus which my mid-wife had to pull out, that was more painful then ANY part of my labor. After the bleeding had stopped, I was finally able to go to my room. I had to keep the pitocin drip in all all night to help my uterus contract down to it's normal size, since it wasn't able too because of the colt. The next day my uterus had contracted down, and bleading had stopped so I was able to be discharged. All in all it was a beautiful experience. Hard work, but beautiful. I hope my future deliveries go as well as my first.

That is so scary and you are SO calm. Did you love your baby right away? It may seem like a crazy question - but I can't say that I was madly in love from day one. It kinda built up for me over time. I loved him and was fascinated and moved but it wasn't like a big flash or anything like that. I was too darn tired I guess and confused and shocked.
What was it like for you when you saw your baby?
