My son Nikolas has really started saying some things that completely crack me up. I decided to keep a journal here about it since I get on cafemom at work and I would never get a chance to record these anywhere at home!
A Knight's Tale (October 2007):
My parents recently returned from France and brought my 4 year old a t-shirt from a fortified city there. It shows 2 knights on horses with their lances drawn. I told my son they were jousting. He liked that word and kept practicing it so he would remember it.
He so loved this shirt that he kept looking at it in the mirror. Then he goes, "Mommy, they're jousting. There's 2 guys with their big things and they try to whack each other off."
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! He kept saying it too - the guys try to whack each other off. Holy hell - it was so funny!
Bargain Basement? (11/07):
Nikolas loves to tell me and my husband that we are mean when he doesn't get what he wants. Recently he wanted to sleep in my bed and daddy said no - you need to sleep in your own bed. Nikolas gets real pouty and says "You're mean Daddy. I'm gonna get a new Daddy." I figure I'll play along and say "Where do you get a new Daddy? At the Daddy store?" and Nikolas says, "No, at the dollar store!"
Should I Be Worried? (11/07)
Nikolas and I were talking about books and I asked him which was his favorite book. He says "Barbies." My husband, a few feet away, visibly cringes, but before he could say anything about it Nikolas adds "NAKED Barbies!"
Oddly enough, that made my husband feel better.
Jesus can get his own (11/07)
Our family went to a local nature center this past weekend and Nikolas decided out of the blue that he wanted to wear the gold chain and cross he received for his baptism. He was very proud of it and pointed it out to every stranger that walked our way. As one older lady approached us Nikolas held it up and said "Hi, look what I got." The lady said, "Ooh, what a nice cross! Is that for Jesus?" Nikolas said, "Nope - it's for me!"
Honesty? (12/07)
Nikolas brought his cup of milk upstairs to my room. When we headed downstairs getting ready to leave for daycare I asked him where his cup was. He said, "In the sink." Surprised that he actually cleaned up after himself I said, "Really? Good job Nik." He looked at me for a second and then smiled and said, "Don't look in the sink."
That reminds me, that cup is still around here somewhere!
