Texas is now the first state to require 6th grade girls to receive the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Gardasil.   This virus is known to cause cervical cancer.

According to Dr. Joseph Mercola's website, (www.mercola.com) Merck, the manufacturer of Gardasil, stands to make billions on this immunization.  It is licensed for girls age 9-26, given in a 3-shot series over 6 months and each shot is $120.

"Merck needs this vaccine, as they are losing billions on Vioxx and billions more on Fosamax for all the lawsuits those drugs generated.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just get a shot, or in the future just eat a plant that is reengineered to contain a vaccine, that would rid of us cancer? Of course it would. Unfortunately, that is not the way our bodies were designed. Cancer prevention is not as simplistic as taking a vaccination. Maintaining a high level of immune integrity is the key, and this is done through the basics of emotional balancing, optimized nutrition, avoidance of toxins, proper sleep, exercise and hydration."

Is your state next?  Merck is lobbying in 18 states........How do you feel about this?

Feb. 20, 2007 at 11:29 AM I don't like it. When the time comes I will refuse them from giving it to my daughters. I don't think enough research has been done with it. Viagra? The amount of research done on that is ridiculous. It's like forcing birth-control on our daughters. I don't like it.

Feb. 20, 2007 at 11:30 AM Ok... So, do they even know what the long term effects are? If any???? Me personally.... And this is my choice for my child. I wouldn't let her get it.. I live in Fl.. Not sure if it's one of the states. I think Merk needs to do more testing...For long term effects if any..

Feb. 20, 2007 at 11:32 AM  I would fight it tooth & nail. Not enough research has been done on this. It only prevents a few of the viruses that cause cervial cancer. You can still get cervical cancer.
