To be honest... I am not sure anymore. With all the toy recalls... even books... I have no idea anymore. I am actually quite scared to get my kids toys this year.. I would try rattles and telephones that make sounds or have lights... Good luck.

when my kids werre under a year and having their first Christamas, they got clothes, diapers, baby cereal... and maybe Duplos if they were close to year. I had two that were around 4 month at Christmas. I think we got them a board book  and shape sorter, but mostly clothes and needed items

When mine were that small at a holiday I asked for needed items too...It's the most practical. We are getting our kids an Ipod (for my oldest) and the boys a new T.V.  They are really not big into "toys"

I had a friend whose baby's first christmas was soooo big she ended up not even opening most of the toys and donating them instead... Opt for needed items... your baby will thank you when he is in dry diapers instead of looking at a toy he can't play with.
