I don't think I ever responded to this! I am so sorry. You probably already have your answer but, here goes...
I read that many "free and Clear" detergents have extra ingredients and sometimes natural products that stick to the fabric and compromise the absorbancy of the diapers. In my experience, they seem to cause rashes a lot faster than plain Tide and other basic detergents.

Nice site. I bookmarked it so I can come back to it.
Quick question about cleaning...if you don't mind: I ordered some BG and in it was a chart of detergents to use/not use and Purex Free and Clear was a recommended detergent, so I picked some up because it is readily available at my grocery store. It did not recommend Tide as a detergent. However your site is the opposite. I'd like to just use Tide, because that is what I use on the rest of our clothes. I'm just wondering why free and clear is bad. I don't want to ruin the expensive diapers I bought, ya know what I mean.
Okay, so I'm babbling....TIA
