So, Ray and I were outside until after midnite last night hanging Christmas lights. It was around 9 degrees and snowing very lightly. It was actually quite beautiful. We're not completely finished, though. We still have our wreath to hang on the porch (we got one that runs on batteries and has lights weaved through it) and our blow up music band to put in the front yard. Our garage is done with twinkling colored light, lit presents stacked ontop of one another on either side of the door and our snowman that we had to do emergency surgery on sitting in the corner. We have lights on the porch and all we have to do now is add the wreath. We had bought another Christmas tree to put outside on the porch (my Charlie Brown tree died last year), but, after opening the box and reading the directions, I found out that it is for indoor use only...sigh. So, now, I'm gonna have 2 trees in my house this year. I think we're gonna take the bench out of the arctic room and put it in there in the corner. I always decorate in there anyway. But, it is beginning to look pretty out there.
But, with that, I woke up this morning with a sore throat. Someone in this family always gets sick at Thanksgiving, every year.
Now, I am trying to find a gown for the Holiday Ball this year. I've found quite a few at Nordstrom online, but, before I buy anything from there, I'm gonna go and checkout what Gottschalks has and the 2 other formal shops. I found one that I have fallen inlove with at Nordstrom, but, I cannot justify spending over 300.00 for a dress that I will most likely only wear once. Sure, there will be other Balls, but, a girl likes to have new, pretty things.
So, I need to get started on laundry and getting the house straightened up. I invited (through Ray) a couple of his Soldiers over for Thanksgiving dinner and I believe they are going to come over Wednesday night and help out with getting the food ready and stay the night and watch football the next morning with Ray (I think they just wanna watch the games on the 60inch flat screen!). THEN....Ray's mom gets in Thanksgiving night and will stay for a week. We thought it was gonna be for 2 weeks, but, her partner in the catering sprang something on her and now its only for a week :( Oh, well, 1 week is better than none. The kids are beyond excited. She's taking Sarah shopping for yet another comforter set (she gets a new one every year) and I think I am getting my Kitchen Aid cookwear set! She bought me a set of T-fal 2 years ago and the stuff has fallen apart on me. OH! And I am so excited about cooking my turkey this year! Ray bought me a 20 quart electric roaster! I can cook a 22 pound turkey in the sucker. So, FINALLY, my oven will be FREE to cook my dressings in and everything else that normally has to wait because of the turkey cooking. EEEP!!! We went shopping yesterday for Thanksgiving dinner and got just about everything I need, except for the cheese for the baked mac and cheese. We went out early, so, it really wasn't that bad out there.
Well. like I mentioned before, I got laundry to get done. I need to get Sarah up and get her started on her bathroom (grandma uses it when she visits), get the bedrooms cleaned up and vacuumed and wash the bedding that she will be sleeping on. Once again, she insists on the futon in the basement....why I will never know. You can hear EVERYTHING that goes on in the livingroom from down there. But, she likes it.
Have a day!
