hello : ) Well I am trying my best to keep positive about taking Sierra to daycare. I know she loves it but it seems like she is always sick now. Its a really nice daycare but now Steve wants to switch daycare because he feels they aren't as clean as they should be. This is frustrating.... but anyways why she is sick now is because a child with Hand Foot and Mouth Virus was in her daycare and they just posted a note on the door. Steve takes Sierra and picks her up so he came home and told me about it and I didn't think much of it but when I changed Sierras diaper the other day I thought she just had a little rash... well then it spread and it look worse... and last night she had a low temp. Well Steve looked on-line and seen all the symptoms and everything and that is what we think she has... but she doesn't have it anywhere else... I called the doctor and the nurse said there isn't any treatment you just have to get through it and hope she doesn't get it in her mouth... wonderful. Of course Thanksgiving is in a few days and my best friends sons 1st birthday is on Saturday.... I just hope this all goes away. Poor girl.
Does anyone know anything more about this virus? They said it is just like a cold..... it just sounds scary...
Comments:
My son had it too. He got blisters in his mouth- which were painful, but luckily only lasted a few days. We have our son in daycare- he's been in one since he was 7 weeks old. He got sick a lot at first and it was hard, but now he is hardly sick. My doc said it was either now or when he's in school. You have to feel comfortable with the place you take your child, but know that getting sick is part of life and he will have a strong immune system soon. He is also benefiting from playing with other children and learning a lot! My son is talking a lot more and doing a lot more than his friends who do not go to a daycare. He loves being with his friends and talks about them all the time.
The name of the virus is worse than the actual virus. He'll be fine by Thanksgiving :)
Happy Holidays :)

Do you feel like you're always saying "No" to your kids? Maybe it's time to have a "Yes" day instead.

Hi,
My little girl had it too...it's not the prettiest thing, but it does go away.....actually by the time you notice the rash...the contagiousness has already been passed around. Chances are she got it before you even saw any signs...anyhow My little one is just fine...it's all part of growing up...oh and my daughter contracted it from the other kids at story time in the library...she didn't go to daycare...so unless we keep them in a plastic bubble, they are going to get things...my husband always says..."builds character" when they are sick...don't totally agree, but i get his point!!! Take care,,, Happy Thanksgiving!
