I was called this morning by a neighbor.  She told me my new cat was dead on the grass in the general area.  Then, about 5 minutes later I find out my 2nd new cat was killed too.

Both were murdered by a sociopath....shot to death & then I cant tell you the rest its too awful to tell.   My other neighbor did the job of picking them up and I saw my precious kitties carried away in a plastic bag.  It broke my heart.  Literally.  Then I had the awful job of coming back to the house and telling all 3 of the kids!  My husband was at work (good man) ---mass hysteria struck.  My daughter is still hysterical!   My oldest son wants revenge!  So does my youngest.

They were only 11 months old.  The sweetest kitties in the world.  I cant imagine how a person could kill a helpless animal?  I dont know what to do with myself im so upset.

Thanks for listening

Nov. 23, 2007 at 10:21 AM Call the police!  I am so sorry that happened and on Thanksgiving day to boot!  You certainly didn't need that on top of everything else you have to deal with.  I don't think the kids should get involved, even if you know who it was.  Their revenge should come out in the form of convicting this idiot of the crime he/she commited!  Sick bastard.  So sad, you know how to contact me if you need to talk.

OMG Cathy, That is horrible.  My heart goes out to you and the kids.  I can not think how devastated my family would be if something like this happened to us.  You have my sympathies and my thoughts are with you.

I hope they find who did this!!

Nov. 26, 2007 at 12:36 PM that's horrible!! My cats were poisened by the neighbor this summer, it was horrible. They didn't do anything to anyone and I don't have the proof that this neighbor did it, just a suspicion.

See... I'm not trying to be bitchy, or accusatory, but if your cats were kept INDOORS all the time, this stuff wouldn't happen. I have two kitties that I love almost as much as my children, and the only time either of them gets outside is in a carrier, on the way to the vet for their annual checkups and shots. They're perfectly content to roam the home, and I never have to worry about finding them dead at the hands of anyone else. The only thing that can befall my furbabies is old age.

I am truly sorry for your loss, and do not envy your situation with the kids, but they need to know that death is part of life. They do not have to know HOW the cats died, just that they're in heaven.

Ive had these cats for only a short time.  They were adopted by another woman that had them for the first 9 months of their life & did not want them any longer.  They were allowed outside at her house in Malibu where the fires were & had it in their hearts to be outside.  Having said that, they were on our property when this happened & were used to taking a walk with me, our dog & older female cat.  They were not allowed outside at night. None of our animals are.

I dont agree with keeping cats inside the house.  They are naturally predators.  I do understand what you are saying, but the fact that A PERSON KILLED THEM WITH A GUN KIND OF WIPES OUT THE THEORY OF CATS BEING EATEN BY COYOTES OR CARS!   I think my cats should be safe in their own home.  Where does the insanity end?  Should we keep our children inside the house in fear that a sick mother will shoot them dead in a safe neighborhood while playing in their yard?  Ive got 3 teenagers & let me tell you theres enough stress in just raising them but the worrry of something happening to them is huge.  I wouldnt have dreamed Leo & Frances would be shot dead in their own territory by s sicko.

None of the cats we have owned have been perfectly content to roam the home!  None of them.

THIS TYPE OF DEATH SHOULD NOT BE PART OF ANYONES LIFE.

OMG how awful - those poor little babies.  I truly hope that this person rots in jail - as we know killing animals is usually just the start of something bigger.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I am an animal lover myself and never got over watching a kitten killed by someone driving way to fast on my block.  I watched it happen and it was awful.  To murder kittens purposely is just pure EVIL.
