In all honesty he doens't know whats going on, its just another day for him. I bought my son clothes, and noise makers! Thats all I would get him, diff kinds of toys and clothes and possibly even some bath toys?! EIther way he really doesn't understand whats going on until hes older. My daughter is six months old right now, and she loves things that make noise, and stuffed animals that are small enough for her little hands to hold.  Also practical things such as teething rings that come in neat shapes and colors would be good.  I told my mother that my daughter really wanted diapers and wipes for Christmas, lol...you're son will probably just have fun tearing the paper off and then ignore what he finds inside if it's not small enough to hold and chew on, but it would be okay to buy things he can use later.
