Today, I took Rowan around to different stores to get some sales and some Yule stuff.
At his request, he got popcorn at Target, and some new clothes and jammies, some of which he chose.
Then we went to Wal-Mart and got a tree, lights, and got Rowan a little chocolate thing.
Lastly, we stopped by Starbucks, and Rowan got a hot chocolate and a chocolate chip cookie.
So, he got a decent amount of things today.
When we got home, he ate his cookie and drank some of his hot chocolate, ate a couple pieces of his chocolate (whoo!) and I worked for a few hours assembling the tree and getting lights on it.
Rowan was kind of being a butthead the whole time, but it wasn't a big deal. When I finished with the lights, I was excited to show him, as both he and I have been excited about getting a tree for awhile.
He was in the kitchen, and I called him in to look at the tree, and the second he saw it he stomped and yelled that he didn't want lights on the tree. I don't know what happened, exactly, but all I could think of to do was just go to bed. I just grabbed my new pillow, took it into my room, then got ready for bed. It was like mentally, I clocked out as a mommy right then.
While I was washing my face, I heard my husband explaining to Rowan that Mommy was really nice to him today, got him (all the different) things, put together a tree and put lights on it, and it was all for him, and he didn't even say thank you, and he threw a fit when I showed him the lights. He told Rowan how Mommy had been really nice to him, and did all of that stuff just for him, because I loved him and wanted him to be happy, and how by not saying thank you and throwing a fit, how he made Mommy really sad.
I was almost crying in the bathroom listening to him explain this to Rowan, and then Rowan comes into the bathroom, and gives me a hug and a kiss, and says, "Thank you Mommy, for the tree and lights and hot chocolate and new clothes and... stuff. Sorry for being mean."
Then of course, I cried, and then went to bed while Rowan and Daddy finished watching a movie before going to bed.
