So, several days ago I placed a big order from Toys R Us.  I first became a little angry because there is a huge banner at the top of their page that says "Free shipping on overs over $49"  Ok, great....free shipping is awsome.  And I spent WAY WAY WAY over $49.  When the order was complete I noticed that shipping was NOT free.....and on further inquery I saw that the free shipping was only on selected items.....none of which I had ordered.  Ok, fine.....I'd gone through all that trouble to pick that crap out....I'll pay the darn shipping.....which by the way turned out to be in the area of $100.

Today, I'm checking out my bank account online.  There's the charge for the stuff I ordered.....and also a second charge for over $200, which was less than my total order ammount.  I called Toys R Us and here's what I was told:
For online orders, the immediately place a hold on your account for the total order ammount.  Then, as the order ships they charge a second time and remove the hold.  Removing the hold takes about 3 business days.  So, effectively, to order from Toys R Us.com you need to have in your account twice the ammount you are spending available.  If you spend $500, you'd better have $1000 in the account.

I just called Toys R Us back and cancelled the entire order.  This is a terrible way for them to treat their customers, especially one who just spent as much as I did with them.

Anyone have a site that they have ordered from in the past and was completly satisfied?  With my toy review site I buy A LOT of toys and kid's items and since I will no longer be using Toys R Us I need a good new place to shop.

That is not good practice,  I have never had that problem before nor ever heard of anything like that!   Thank you for letting me know.  Even though I don't really shop there since my youngest is 11 1/2,  I will be sure to keep that in mind in case they have something that I would like or people I know with smaller children.

Thanks again!!!!

i know walmart doesnt have a ton to offer, but they have site-to-store which is FREE shipping regardless of the cost, and they send it to the nearest walmart to you. i have used walmart.com and target.com for this years christmas and last years successfully! for clothes and good sales on clothes- i like childrensplace.com and gymboree.com- also jcpenney.com ( i live in a tiny town with ONLY a walmart, so i use the internet for holidays)  thanks for the tip!! hope i could help a little.
