When I found out I was pregnant with my son. I was so excited to have a baby. I always wanted to be a mom. I love kids. Then I went into labor for 12 hours and 45 minute then I delivered him. I held him and we had a connection. 24 hours later, I am still in hospital, the nurse came in and told me they need to do hearing screen. I thought he was hearing. When they came back, they told me that he failed both side. You know, I am deaf myself and my husband are hard of hearing but our family are all hearing expect for my husband's brother, he is hard of hearing too. That why I was expecting him to be hearing. So I am like huh okay. His doctor told me that they set up an appt. for my son for more test on him at this children's hospital. I was like okay. Then we went to appt. We found out that he is almost profoundly deaf. I was like whoa! This is totally unexpected.
When he turned one, he has some sign language. It was cool cuz I have a son that I can communicate with. Then all suddenly we end up taking in his cousins cuz their parents are irresponsible and lazy to take care of them. But my son love them very much. His cousin are learning sign languages as well. Both of them are hearing but they are learning good. We have them for two years now. My son now are three years old. He does drive me crazy cuz I couldn't get him to listen to me. He ignores me. He play too rough. He does have bad tantrum when he was two but it better now. He is currently go to preschool for all deaf only. It so cool! I do love my son but he can be pain in the a**! Then I had my daughter and he love her very much. He is so protective of her. If one of his cousin come near by he'll push him away. I was like no! he wasn't gonna touch her. Stop doing that. That the way he is. I still haven't found out why he born deaf but I think it has to do with genatic.
